Owners' League News

Published January 19th, 1997

Two minor trades beat the deadline Friday night at the last official meeting before Championship Day. The Flowers got eventually rid of B.J. Surhoff getting Matt Walbeck and Lit. 2.500 in exchange from the Brokers. No other owner seemed to be interested in the third baseman. The Topos addressed the only left position still considered weak in their team by getting shortstop Randy Velarde from the Pachos, who received Chris Gomez and Lit. 2.000.
As the 00:07 deadline clocked, owners were not allowed to trade players anymore, and they must submit the Manager Profile of their team in DiamondMind Baseball format by Monday.

The Loan Auction

Some comments still had to be made about the Pat Hentgen loan (see The Loan Auction in the table on the right), and they were. In the end, a good perception of the self-healing of the game was widely felt.
But most time was spent planning the late-May trip to the Promised Land the Owners' League is officially sponsoring. Target cities were defined (Toronto and Boston), with a wonderful schedule including the Anaheim Angels and the Texas Rangers in Toronto, followed by the Chicago White Sox and the New York Yankees in Boston, ALL IN NINE DAYS!
We would like to keep you informed on this journey with a special page, which is just under construction.
